BAD BARD POETRY
Down by the water
I wandered down to the river and followed on to the lake
Then laid down by the water, time was mine to take
Settling down I skyward gazed
At a silent theatre in the summer haze
The noiseless clouds would shy
And halt their dance
Till I closed my eyes or avert my glance
Or gazed higher still at the gossamer traces
Of their kin patrolling those heavenly places.
And little by little all the buzzing words
Were ushered out by the song of birds
And a gentle haunting harmony
Of the wind playing softly, through the sighing trees.
Dissolving me with these lullabies
Morpheus reached to close my eyes
Beguiling me with pleasant dreams
To slip me in his tyrannous schemes
When, Boom,
By sudden thunder I was struck
Behind closed languid eyes
As dashes of vivid colours rended a dark night sky
Shocked alert, now keen as an eagle
I was wrenched to a shattering view
Alive in the vastness of eternity
Worldly thought may never construe
I knew then of its coldest indifference
To the mindless things people do
As we struggle blindly in this world
Believing our petty misconceptions as true.
In that endless enveloping moment
Our absurdity of assumptions dissolved
The shared purpose of our existence
Clamoured to impart and unfold
With every eye ever born of creation,
Each unique and unfolding event
Transmitted and recorded in the infinite
The cosmic hologram in which we are spent.
We’ve a constant nagging feeling
Something missing, a restless despair
An inkling knowledge of our incompleteness
A frustration we are all bound to share
Just out of reach, behind a door
We sense, we know we are so much more
A perceiving facet of the designer of all
We watch, we witness and await its call.
